Spring Pansy Sale
Celebrate spring with a cheery pansy, panola, or viola grown in Olbrich's own greenhouses. Olbrich's Spring Pansy Sale is on Saturday, April 3 starting at 10 a.m., while supplies last. Pots of pansies are $6 each, with three plants per pot. Decorative containers are extra. Proceeds benefit Olbrich Botanical Gardens. Pansies are cool weather plants that do best if planted in the ground. However, they also look great in a container, and make wonderful springtime gifts. Not only decorative, pansies are also edible and add a flash of color to dishes as a garnish. Or, try planting colorful pansies in a container with lettuce - it's an entire salad in one pot!
Time: 10 a.m. - while supplies last!

Cork and Bottle String Band
The Cork 'n Bottle String Band of Madison, Wisconsin was formed in 1996 by like-minded bluegrass enthusiasts. The band took its name from the Cork n’ Bottle liquor store on East Johnson St, where many of the band members worked and where the group practiced. In May of 1996 the band moved its practices to a sleepy tavern called Ken’s Bar, just off the Capitol Square on Butler Street. The band played 6pm to 9pm at Ken’s Bar every Wednesday night from May of 1996 until November of 2002 when the bar was torn down. After a series of downtown taverns the band found a new home, and currently resides on the campus of the University of Wisconsin at the Memorial Union Rathskellar and Terrace. Overture After Work is a series of free performances in Overture Hall Lobby. The program is now in its 5th year. All shows are 5 to 7 PM, doors open at 4:30 PM. Happy hour food and drink are available for purchase. For details, email coordinator Mary Lou Krase at mkrase@overturecenter.

Dark Nights: Tanztheater
Kanopy is pleased to announce that Artistic Director Amit Lahav of Gecko Physical Theater Company based in the United Kingdom will create a new tanztheater work for Kanopy. Amit has toured to 15 countries with 3 award winning productions. Most recently, his acclaimed "Overcoat" was seen at the Edinborough Fringe Festival in Scotland and is touring internationally through the British council. "IKARUS", a premiere by KDC's Co-Artistic Director Robert E. Cleary will explode onto the program as well. Based on the myth of Ikarus " and the consequences of pushing beyond limitations " guest artist Vivian Tomlinson will portray Daedelus looking back on his life and mistakes. Kanopy’s Juan Carlos Diaz Velez will dance the role of the young Daedelus. Isaac Robertson (Kanopy Company Two) will dance the role of his son, Ikarus; and, Edgar Molino will dance the Minotaur. New music has been created for IKARUS by Greek composer Vicky Tzoumerka Knoedler. The costume designer is Amy Panganiban.
